Cheraw ROSS Program
Resident Opportunity & Self Sufficiency
The purpose of the ROSS program is to provide funding to hire and maintain a Service Coordinator who will promote the development of local strategies; to coordinate the use of assistance under the Public Housing program with public and private resources; for supportive services and resident empowerment activities. These services should enable participating families to increase earned income, reduce or eliminate the need for assistance, make progress toward achieving economic independence and housing self-sufficiency. In the case of elderly or disabled residents, help improve living conditions and enable residents to age-in-place.
Our community partnerships are the lifeline of the ROSS Program. We provide referrals that are based upon the family’s needs to these partners. Some examples of what the Resident Opportunity & Self Sufficiency program provides are:
• The organization of social events
• Linking residents with different social service agencies
• Referrals to GED and Literacy programs
• Develop financial literacy
• Enhance workforce development
• Support in improving health needs
